JOB SUMMARY
The SNAP & MNsure Program Support staff is responsible to have a thorough understanding of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and MNsure. Their work supports the agency’s mission by building awareness of these programs in the community and to individuals. They will complete intake work, SNAP applications and recertifications and/or MNsure enrollments and explain how to maintain and use SNAP benefits and individual health care coverage.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned.
Area 1: Program Operations
•
Prioritize participants from eligible applicants
•
Conduct assessments and explain program services, outreach, screenings and application assistance
•
Conduct in-person and virtual outreach to potential program participants, volunteers, community organizations and service providers to establish and maintain partnerships and on-going communication
•
Follow up with applicants to ensure approval for programs or to offer assistance with appeals, recertification or accessing other resources
•
Coordinate and/or assist co-workers and volunteers to operate the garden seed project
Area 2: Program Compliance
•
Understand the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the agency’s MNsure goals and objectives
•
Complete MNsure training and maintain navigator certification
•
Understand and follow SNAP application assistance and MNsure enrollment processes
•
Enter participant data and activities into data collection systems, accurately and as requested
•
Complete program reports, as requested
Area 3: Program Communications
•
Maintain contact with participants verbally, in writing or in person through phone, text, email, post delivered letters or face-to-face meetings.
•
Provide information and referrals to participants
•
Advocate for the participant, which may include connecting with county and state staff, insurance agents and/or employers
•
Serve as a resource to other staff less familiar with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and MNsure
•
Organize and/or present at community forums, write pieces for publications or to post on social media, and participate in networking meetings
•
Conduct trainings on SNAP & MNsure for intra/inter-agency staff, as required
Area 4: Development Assistance
•
Recognize existing and emerging needs of participants and communities and develop programmatic and resource recommendations to improve or develop programs

Must have valid driver’s license and current auto insurance coverage in compliance with Minnesota State guidelines on the vehicle used for work related travel.

Travel for completion of job duties, trainings and meetings as required.
